Why should one install a disk defragmentation utility when there is one integrated in the operating system? Maybe because Auslogics Disk Defrag runs faster, it gives you access to the processed partition and you don't feel it while it is working in the background.

Another argument is the fact that you can choose the CPU usage during the defregmentation process. A higher CPU usage will speed up the defragmentation process, but it may slown down your computer. If you have work to do, you can choose a lower CPU usage and continue your work while defreagmenting your partitions.

I cannot say that this is the best application in this field, but is doing its job better than the utility from Windows XP. The interface is based on the 'next' button and in three steps you have already started the process. In the end the application will display a short statistic and if you want, also a log.

Pluses: Freeware; fast; it let's you access the partition while defragmenting it; a complete defragmentation report will be generated in HTM format.

Drawbacks / flaws:

In conclusion: If you really need to defrag your partitions, you can use this application. Not the best but it does a very good job.
